Revise how to form the comparative degrees of adjectives. a. The rules of forming comparative degrees. b. Write these adjectives on the blackboard. tall thin wild serious outgoing funny athletic Call two students at random. Get the students to use these words to compare them. Step 2 Presentation <Page 33. Section A, 3a.> Look at the two photos of the twins Liu Li and Liu Ying. Talk about these two girls, using the following sentences. You can see two Chinese girls in the two photos. They are Liu Li and Liu Ying. They are twins. In some ways they look the same, and in some ways they look different. They both have black eyes and black hair. Liu Li’s hair is shorter than Liu Ying’s. Write the phrases “look the same〞 and “look different〞 on the blackboard. Point out the two items and give some samples for them. Explain how to use “both〞 and give the following examples. (1) Both of the flowers are very beautiful. (2) You are both too young. Section A, 4.> Read the instruction to the class. Tell the students: You will have three minutes to write down the things that are the same and different between you and your partner. Ask pairs of students how many same and different examples they found. Ask several pairs of students to read their lists to the class.
