Unit 1 Tony has the longest journey
I. Teaching aims and demands
1. Teaching aims
l 知识:To understand conversations with superlative adjectives.
l 能力:To ask and answer questions about transport and travel.
l 德育:To get familiar with the information about transportation.
2. Teaching demands
l Key vocabulary: bus, subway, journey. Bicycle, taxi
l Key structure: by bus, by bicycle, by taxi
II. Teaching Procedure
Step 1 Warming up
1. Ask Ss to discuss how they get to school, and list the answers on the blackboard.
2. Show the pictures of the means of transportation, and ask Ss to talk about what they can see through the pictures.
3. Listen and match---Activity 1 & 2
l Read the lists of words and have the students repeat them after you.
l Listen to the tape and match the words in Box 1 with the words in Box 2.
4. Discussion---Activity 3
l Read through the phrases with “by〞.
l Pair the Ss to ask and answer: “How do you go to school〞
Step 2 Presentation
1. Listening ---Activity 4 & 5
l Ask the Ss to listen to tape with the questions: “How many people are Betty and her mum talking about (four) / Who are they (They’re Tony, Daming, Lingling and Betty’s Dad.)
l Read through the sentences in Activity 5.
l Ask the Ss to listen to the dialogue and write a name in front of each sentence.
2. Reading
Pair the students to practise the dialogue and present it to the public.
3. Summary
Summarize the rules of the superlative adjectives.
4. Exercise
Homework
Copy the new words and finish the exercise in the workbook.

Unit 2 It’s the fastest train
I. Teaching aims and demands
1. Teaching aims:
l 知识:To get information from the reading material about traveling times.
l 能力:To be able to match headings with paragraphs, find specific information and match words with meanings.
l 德育:To get familiar with the information about the traveling.
2. Teaching demands
l Key vocabulary: airport, bus stop, ferry terminal, station, distance, fare, international, journey, passenger, travel
l Key structures: It goes from Shanghai Station to the Pudong Airport in eight minutes.
The same journey takes about 30 minutes by car.
II. Teaching procedure
Step 1 Warming up
Look at the picture. Which words can you see to describe it
l Ask the Ss to do this individually, then check their answers with a partner.
l Ask Ss to say what they can see in the picture. Encourage them to make sentences.

l Read through the headings, then ask the Ss to read and match individually
l They can check their answers with a partner.
l Collect the answers from the class.

l Ask the Ss to do this individually, then check their answers with a partner.

3. Reading and filling.
l Read through the words and have the Ss repeat them chorally and individually.
l Take care with “international〞, to get the stress on the third syllable.
l Decide if you want the Ss to use dictionaries to find out the meanings of unknown words.
l Ask the Ss to match individually, then check their answers with a partner.
4. Writing
l Read through the example with the class, and ensure they understand what they have to do.
l Ask them to work out the answers individually.
l Collect the answers from the class.

British Airways is one of the busiest international airlines.
