Step 2 Presentation 1. T: I have some pocket money. I often buy myself some snacks .Sometimes I buy some hair clips .Do you have any pocket money Where is it from How do you spend your pocket money 2. Get Ss to talk about in groups then choose some groups to report in front of the class. 3. Show Ss the pictures in part A on Page 84 and guess how they spend their pocket money Step 3 Listening Ss listen to the tape and check the answers. Step 4 Presentation 1. Show Ss different pictures about the old schools .T introduces that one child may have a little pocket. Ask Ss to talk about children’s lives in poor areas and guess how they spend their pocket money. 2. T: Do they want to buy CDs/hair clips /football cards /computer games How often do you buy these things Do you want to know how often Simon and the children in poor areas buy these things Step 5 Listening Ss listen to the tape and finish B1 on page 84 then check the answers . Step 6 Practice 1. From the listening content, Ss know the children in poor areas don’t have enough money to buy stationery .Get Ss to read B2 and answer the following questions. (1).What can we give them (2).How can we give them 2 .Millie and Simon want to help the children from poor areas .They write a letter to the Principal. But it is not completed .Now please read the ad carefully and help them finish their letter on Page 85. Check the answers. Step 7 Presentation 1. T: We know Simon like sports Does he always buy sports shoes Now He is in the sports shop .He is talking to the shopkeeper .Listen to the tape and answer the questions. (1.) What would Simon like to buy (2.) What size are Simon’s feet (3.) How much do the shoes cost Do they buy the shoes 2 .T plays the tape and get Ss to answer the questions .Get Ss to listen to the tape again and repeat it . 3. Ss to raise some problems .T explains them .e.g. try ….on , fit very well etc. 4. Ss read the dialogue in group. Step 8 Activity Encourage Ss to make up new dialogues using their own information. Ask some groups to act out their own dialogues. Step 9 Homework 1. Remember the new words and phrases. 2. Write a letter to the principal to talk about how to help the children in poor areas. 3. Ask Ss to bring some colour pencils for the next period. Study skills Step 1 Revision Ask several Ss to read their letters to the principal. Step 2 Presentation 1. Do you think it difficult to learn English Which part is the most difficult Reading, grammar or vocabulary 2. Maybe many students think it difficult to remember the new words. T: Yes, you are right. Vocabulary is the most difficult .But today I’ll teach you a good way to remember new words .It’ a secret .Don’t tell others. 3. T takes out a picture . Look! What’s in the picture There is a tree. Great! But it’s a wonderful tree .It’s a vocabulary tree .A vocabulary tree helps you remember new words .Do you want to know how to make a vocabulary tree OK, I’ll show you how to make one in class .Follow me! Step3 Activity 1. Ask each student to take out some colour pencils and a piece of paper. 2 T : First ,draw a big tree with some leaves .On its branches ,we write some categories , such as people ,food ,drink ,etc .Draw a picture for a new word on each leaf .Write down the new words below the pictures .Put the words into different categories .Now we have a beautiful vocabulary tree . 3. Tell Ss that Millie is making a vocabulary tree .She needs help. Help her complete it .Encourage Ss to make more vocabulary trees. Step 4 Discussion Tell Ss that making a vocabulary tree is only one of the ways to remember the words. Get Ss to discuss the other ways of learning English well in groups .T encourage them to use these ways in later studying.
