2. Presentation (呈现新知识)
1) Show a picture of a rainbow to teach different colors.
T: This is a rainbow. It’s colorful. (Point to the color red) It is red. (Point to the color yellow) It’s yellow. (教师用彩虹引出大自然中五颜六色的现象让学生初步接触表颜色的英语词汇,学生仔细听老师的发音。)
2) Show some real things to learn the words: red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple, brown
T: Look at the flower(边说边指着“花”). It is red. It’s a red flower. Read after me, “red”.

T: What color is it? (板书并标出音标)

3) Show some colorful letter cards to the Ss and practice like this.

3. Work on 1a (完成1a)
(1)T: Please open your books to page S9. What colors can you see on the left?
S: Red, yellow, green, blue, black, white, purple and brown.
(2)What letters can you see in the picture?
S: S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z.
(3)T: What color is V?
S: It’s red.
T: V is red. It’s a red V. Read after me, please.

(4)Look at the picture and write the letter for each color.

4. Work on 1b (完成1b)
T: Close your books and listen to the recording.
(1) Play the recording for the first time. Ss only listen.
T: I’ll play the recording for you. You must listen to it carefully.
(2) Play the recording for the second time. Ss listen and repeat.
T: This time, you can read after the recording.
(3)T: Now please open your books to page S9. Look at the conversations in the picture. Let’s listen and repeat.
Explain: 指近处用“this”,指远处用“that”。

5. Work on 1c (完成1c)
(1)Have Ss practice the conversations in the picture in pairs.
T: Look at the conversations in the picture. You can practice them in pairs.
(2)Have Ss practice their own conversations in pairs. While they are practicing, move around to listen to their pronunciation and intonation.
(3)Ask some pairs to present their conversations to the class.
【教学设计说明】 学生两人一组进行对话,从模仿到操练,再编出新的对话,符合学生的认知规律。同时教师可以了解学生的语音语调,了解学生是否能正确地进行对话。
6. Chant (说唱)
Students look at the words in 1a and chant.

Difficulties (教学难点)
字母U, V, W的读音,以及小写字母y的手写体与印刷体的不同。强调英语大小写字母的书写格式,避免书写错误,做到书写正确、美观。

T: Look at the blackboard. They are big letters. Can you write down their small letters?
Ask some Ss to go to the front and write the small letters next to the big letters on the blackboard.

(1)Play the recording. Sts listen and repeat.

3. Work on 2b (完成2b)
(1)Play the recording for the first time. Ss only listen.
(2)Play the recording for the second time. Ss listen and number the letters.
(3)Play the recording for the third time. Ss listen and check their answers.
(4)Have Ss read the letters aloud.
【教学设计说明】先听后做,训练学生集中精力听清楚字母的发音,养成良好的听力习惯。
4. Work on 2c & 2d ( 完成2c和2d )
教师可以通过多媒体展示或以自己的方式来教学字母的书写Ii—Rr。注意书写体和印刷体的区别。尤其注意X的笔顺笔画。
5. Work on 2e (完成2e)
(1)Present the abbreviations the Ss know and their meanings.
e.g. CD, HB, BBC, P, NBA, kg以及补充的ABC, CAAC, CBA, BC, AD, PRC等。
(2)Present some new abbreviations and their meanings.
T: Please look at these big letters and pictures. Do you know what they mean?
S — Small

(3)Present some more abbreviations like XL (加大号), MTV (音乐电视), IT (信息技术), IQ(智商), EMS(邮政速递公司), SARS (非典), RMB (人民币), PC (个人计算机), CCP (中国共产党)
【教学设计说明】在平时的学习、生活中,学生会遇到不少有意义的字母组合,由于经常听到,所以他们也不陌生,如:PK, cm, km等等。让学生尽可能多地说出他们所知道的,不但可以让学生们了解更多,还能活跃课堂气氛。
6. Dictation (听写练习)
T: Let’s have a dictation. I’ll invite two students to come to the blackboard and write on it.
【教学设计说明】听写上一课时所学的表颜色的词汇以及今天所学的字母,从而检测学生对这部分内容的掌握情况。

2)A spelling game

S: Is there an “l” in this word?

(3) T: “The key is yellow.” means “It’s a yellow key.”
What does “The ruler is …” mean?
S: It means “ It’s a … ruler.”

Teaching Steps (教学步骤)
1. Warm-up and revision (课堂热身和复习)
(1)Playing the ABC song in 4b before the class begins.
(2)Daily greetings.
(3)Play a bingo game.
Have Ss write down nine words from page S9 in the boxes. Then read the words out in random order. Have Ss check the words they hear. If three words in a line are checked, the S is the winner.
T: Please draw a chart like this. Write down nine words from page S9. You can write down one word in each box as you like.
T: Now I’ll read out nine words and you check what you hear. If you have three words checked in one line, you can say “Bingo!” and put up your hand. If you are the first to say ”bingo”, you are the winner.
(4)Call the letters.
(教师打乱顺序将26张大写字母卡分发给26个学生,其中元音字母用红色字体。然后把26张小写字母卡分发给另外的。教师首先说一个字母,学生举着字母卡应答。然后由该学生点下一个字母,按此方式完成26个字母的应答。)

(1)T: Open your books and turn to page S12. This is a keyboard. Can you find the letters from A to Z? Where is A?

(2)T: Now you can write the small letter next to each big letter.
(3)Ask some students to show what they have written.

(2)Have Ss learn to read the chant.
T: Now let’s listen and learn.
(3)Ask some Ss to chant.
