Magnetic ParticleIndicationsonFerrousCastings.5.2IndicationsofwelddiscontinuitiesillustratedinASTME125aremerelyexamplesofdiscontinuitesinweldrepairsandnotdegreeof severity.5.3 The ten examples of falseindicationsandmagneticanomaliesillustratedinASTME125arenecessaryasaguidetothetypeofindicationsandnotnecessarilyindicativeofanyconditionsconcerningintegrityorusefulnessunderthescopeofqualityhereindefined.Itisrecognizedthatinsomeinstancessurveys by methods other thanmagneticparticleexaminationmay be necessary toestablishwhatindicationsbelongtothese categories.6.REMOVAL AND REPAIR OF DISCONTINUITIES 6.1Partsrejectedthroughtheapplicationofthesestandardsmayberepaired.Ifweldingisrequired,it shall be in accordancewiththerequirementspecifiedintheapplicablesteelcastingorforging specifications.6.2Discontinuitiesinexcessofthoserepresentedbyacceptableindicationsshallberemovedbysuitablemeans.Ifremovalofsurfacediscontinuitiestoanacceptable level does not result inreducingthewallthicknessbelowtheacceptableminimum,theareashallbeblendedsmoothlyintosurroundingsurface.Whereremovalofdiscontinuitiesresultsinawall thickness below the acceptableminimum,theresultantcavitymayberepairedbywelding.Weldedareasshallbeblendedsmoothlyinto surrounding surface.6.3Areaswhichasaresultofmagnetic particle examination,havebeenweldrepairedorfromwhichdiscontinuitieshavebeenremovedwithoutrequirementforweldrepair,shall be re-examined by themagnetic particle
