Abstract:ThispaperfirstexploresJaneAusten’sattitudetowardmarriageinSenseandSensibilitythroughherdescriptionofElinorandMarianne,twoheroinesinthenovel.Itthendiscussesthecontemporaryinfluenceofit.IntheRegentperiod,thesocialstatusofwomenwaslowandtherightswerenotprotected.Withtheawakeningoffemaleconsciousness,thesesituationswereimprovedtoagreatdegree.Austinthinksthatmarriagerequireslove,however,inthesocietyatthattime,classisthefirstthreshold,andmarriageturnedintoequivalentcommoditiestrading,womenaretreatedasgoodstobesold.Loveisnotquiteaconsiderationwhenitcomestomarriage.Austinabhorsthecommercialkindofmarriage,advocatingfreeandromanticlove,abreakthroughofthetraditionalviewofmarriage,maybeitcanduetotheadvocatingofthenewideas“liberty,equality,fraternity".However,Austenisreserveandsensible,discussinghowlackingofcanaffectpeople’slife.Marianne’selasticlovetowardWilloughbycanbedetrimentaltoherreputation,andwhensheisdumpedbyhim,sheiscompletelydesperateandbroken.Austenshowshersarcasticandcontemptuousattitudetowardsuchbehaviors.Onthecontrary,sheappreciatesElinor’scharacter,reasonablewhileaboundinginfeelings.Theconflictsbetweensenseandsensibilitymakeupthecharacters’complexandcontradictorypersonalities,arousingreader'sinterestandthinking,thusbecominganenduringtopic.TheideasputforwardbyJaneAustenmorethantwohundredyearsagoarestillinstructivetoday.Thecontradictionsbetweenmoneyandlove,senseandsensibilityisweakening,sincepeoplearepayingmoreattentiontotheeconomicfoundationandexpectingmoreresonanceoftasteandemotion.Itcanhardlybedeniedthatpeopleofdifferentclasseswillfinditgrowinglydifficulttoproducethiskindofresonance.Therefore,aslongaswestrikethebalanceofsenseandsensibility,getridofunrealisticfantasyandtheideaofmoneyworship,andbuilditonthebasisofequalityandmutualrespect,ahappymarriagemaynotbeautopianfantasy.Keywords:sense,sensibility,attitude,marriage简•奥斯汀的婚姻观——以《理智与情感》为例摘要:首先根据《理智与情感》原著，探究作者对埃莉诺与玛丽安两个女主人公感情和婚姻轨迹的描述...
