Senior Consultant on Civic Education with the Mershon Center for International Security and Public Policy at Ohio State.He received his Ph.D.in political sciencefrom Northwestern University,taught in the Chicago public schools,and served as a consultantto numerous school systems,state departments of education,federal government agencies,andEast European ministries of education.His books include:Building Civic Education for Democracyin Poland,Teaching About International Conflict and Peace,Approaches to World Studies,TeachingAbout National Security,American Government and National Security,Civics for Americans,Lessons on the Constitution,and Citizenship Decision Making.He is General Editor for AmericanGovernment at Work,a nine-volume encyclopedia for middle schools and high schools.In the 1990s Dr.Remy created and co-directed a long-term project with the Polish Ministry ofNational Education and the Center for Citizenship Education,Warsaw,to develop new civic educa-tion programs for Polish students,teachers,and teacher educators.He also served as a consultanton civic education to educators,government officials,and non-governmental organizations fromArmenia,Bulgaria,Estonia,Latvia,Lithuania,Romania,Moldova,and Ukraine,the United StatesInformation Agency,and the National Endowment for Democracy.Dr.Remy has served onnational advisory boards for
