81/225/INFFor IEC use only2003-07-25INTERNATIONAL ELECTROTECHNICAL COMMISSIONTECHNICAL COMMITTEE No.81:LIGHTNING PROTECTIONTC 81/WG 8 Convenors report(to be discussed under draft agenda item 7 at the forthcoming TC 81 meeting to be held in Palma deMallorca 29th and 30th September 2003)As decided at the meeting of TC 81 held in Florence,task of the WG 8 is to prepare CDs relevant to projectsIEC 62305-1 and IEC 62305-3.A new CD of IEC 62305-3 has been prepared taking into account the comments received on the first CD andthe results of discussion held at the last TC81 meeting in Beijing.The task force leaded by Mr.Ed Pols,established with the goal to prepare Annex F in the draft IEC 62305 3,could complete the text of the new Annex F,which was included in the new CD;figures of Annex F,notyet ready,were no attached.New draft 81/214/CD,relevant to IEC 62305-3,have been circulated by the National Committees and thedeadline for comments was the 20th June 2003.CC on 81/214/CD has been circulated immediately among the Members of WG 8 and comments wereconsidered and discussed at the WG8 meeting held in Rome on 15 and 16 July 2003.In the same meeting:figures of Annex F were presented and discussed;additional material presented as comment to Annex E by Germany was discussed.On the base of the results of this discussion and after consultation with IEC CO,the following line of actionwill be implemented:to prepare by the Secretary a new Annex F and relevant Figures included to be circulated as DCdocument,asking NTC for comments(deadline 15th September 2003);to prepare by the Secretary a new Annex E relevant to structures with risk of explosion to becirculated as DC document,asking NTC for comments(deadline 15th September 2003);to consider comments received to both documents before the TC 81 meeting in Palma.A complete document for CDV stage could be prepared according to the established TC 81 workprogramme.New version of document IEC 62305-1 has been prepared with special aim to be congruent with the otherCDs in preparation,and has been circulated by May 9,2003 as CDV(81/216/CDV)closing date for votingby October 10,2003,according to the decision of TC 81 Beijing meeting._
