2004.taking into account the decision of the TC109 Beijing 2002 plenary meeting on the list of new work 109/11/DC,109/18/INF and other available proposals. This document is presented in the form of an amendment to get initial NCs reactions to the major revision activities. The project will eventually lead to a new edition, which will be a technical revision of Ed.1.0.FORM CD(IEC)2002-05-14 Copyright 109/38/CD 2INTERNATIONAL ELECTROTECHNICAL COMMISSION TECHNICAL COMMITTEE 109:INSULATION CO-ORDINATION FOR LOW VOLTAGE EQUIPMENT The clauses listed,or sections in the clauses, will be revised as follows.Revisions are marked in red colour and either crossed out or underlined.2.2.2.2 Selection of rated impulse voltage for equipment Replacement of Table 1 by:Table 1 Rated impulse voltage for equipment energized directly from the low-voltage mains Rated impulse voltage 2)Nominal voltage of the supply system 1)based on IEC 60038 3)Overvoltage category 4)Three phase Single phase Voltage line these rated impulse voltages can be used in installations in accordance with IEC 60364-4-443.3)The/mark indicates a four-wire three-phase distribution system. The lower value is the voltage line-to-neutral,while the higher value is the voltage line-to-line.Where only one value is indicated,it refers to three-wire,three-phase systems and specifies the value line-to-line.4)See 2.2.2.1.1 for an explanation of the overvoltage categories.5)Nominal voltages for single-phase systems in Japan are 100V or 100-200V.However,the value of the rated impulse voltage for the voltages is determine from columns applicable to the voltage line to neutral of 150V(See annex B)3.1.4 Dimensioning of clearances of functional insulation For a clearance of functional insulation, the maximum impulse voltage or steady-state voltage or recurring peak voltage expected to occur across it under rated conditions of the equipment,in particular the rated voltage and rated impulse voltage,is the appropriate impulse withstand voltage.3.1.5 Dimensioning of clearances of basic, supplementary and reinforced insulation Clearances of basic and supplementary insulation shall each be dimensioned as specified in table 2 corresponding to the rated impulse voltage, according to 2.2.2.2 or 2.2.2.3.1;or IEC 60664-1 Ed.2/CD 109/38/CD 3 the impulse withstand voltage requirements according to 2.2.2.3.2;and as specified in table 7 corresponding to the steady-state voltage according to 2.2.1.1;and the recurring peak voltage according to 2.2.3;and the temporary overvoltage according to 2.2.4 withstand requirements. With respect to impulse voltages clearances of reinforced insulation shall be dimensioned as specified in table 2 corresponding to the rated impulse voltage but one step higher in the preferred series of values in 2.1.1.2 than that specified for basic
