Designation:F212413An American National StandardStandard Practice forTesting Treestand Ladder,Tripod Stand and Climbing StickLoad Capacity1This standard is issued under the fixed designation F2124;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This practice provides guidance for testing the loadcapacity of ladder and tripod type treestands. This practice alsoapplies to climbing sticks which shall meet the same require-ments as the steps to ladder and tripod type stands. For changesto this specification since the last issue, refer to the Summaryof Changes section at the end of the standard.1.2 The values stated are in inch-pound units and are to beregarded as the standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:2F2125 Test Method for Treestand Static Stability andAdher-enceF2126 Test Method for Treestand Static docu-ments are applicable to this practice.3.2 Definitions:3.2.1 climbing sticka device to assist climbing a treeparticularly to a fixed position treestand.A structure that issecured to the tree and of Practice4.1 This practice provides guidelines for the selection oftests for the evaluation of the load capacity of laddertreestands, tripod type treestands and climbing sticks in accor-dance with manufacturers capacity rating, particularly forquality assurance and adequacy of safety factors including:4.1.1 Static load test.4.1.2 Stability test.4.1.3 Repetitive loading test.NOTE1Steps only.4.1.4 In the event of a repetitive load failure, manufactureris to submit two additional stands for testing for final accep-tance.5.Significance and Use5.1 This practice is provided to develop and maintainuniformity for the evaluation of the load capacity of ladder andtripod type stands and climbing sticks, particularly with regardto quality assurance and safety factors.5.2 It is emphasized that the use of these procedures will notalter the validity of data determined with specific test methods, but provides guidance in the interpretation of test results(validor invalid)and guidance in the selection of a reasonable testprocedure in those instances where no standard exists today.6.Procedure6.1 The following methods are recommended for individualunits and situations:1This practice is
