Designation:F295519Standard Guide forTraining for Advanced Rope Rescuer Endorsement1This standard is issued under the fixed designation F2955;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision,the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This guide,in conjunction with,and as an add-on to,Guides F2751,F2752,and F2954(or equivalent for otherenvironments),defines the basic training required for a personwho participates in rope rescue at the highest level of respon-sibility and complexity,as part of a larger rescue duty.1.1.1 Specifically,this guide defines the knowledge,skills,and abilities required for a person to support or direct a roperescue team in advanced rope rescue functions includingpre-planning and size-up of rope rescue operations,designingand directing the construction of rope systems for moving avictim in low and high angle environments,directing theconstruction and operation of highline and related ropesystems,and performing advanced rope rigging functions,inconjunction with other rescue duties.1.1.2 This guide establishes the minimum training standardfor an advanced rope rescue endorsed person in regard togeneral,field,and rope rescue-specific knowledge and skills.1.2 An advanced rope rescuer performs rope rescues in allterrain and is capable of directing basic and intermediate roperescuers.1.2.1 An advanced rope rescuer endorsement applies only torescues on the surface of the land;additional endorsements arerequired to perform this level of rope rescue in other environ-ments.This guide alone does not define the minimum trainingrequirements for performing or assisting with rescues inpartially or fully collapsed structures,in or on water,inconfined spaces,or underground(such as in caves,mines,andtunnels).1.2.2 This guide alone does not define the minimum trainingrequirements for climbing Class 52or higher rock and/or ice toperform a rescue.1.3 An advanced rope rescuer is required to have knowledgeand skill sets pertaining to the advanced roped evacuationcomponents of rescue.These include,but are not limited to,advanced knots and rigging,functioning as a litter attendant ina high angle lowering or raising operation,and directing a roperescue team in the rescue of a subject suspended in a high angleenvironment.1.4 An advanced rope rescuer may be part of a rope rescueteam as defined in Classification F1993.1.4.1 Further training may be required before an advancedrope rescuer may actually participate on a particular kind ofrope rescue team,depending on the regulations or policies ofthe authority having jurisdiction.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any,associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety,health,and environmental practices and deter-mine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.6 This international standard was developed in accor-dance
