Designation:F295312Standard Specification forPhenolic Raw Materials for the Use in Bearing Cages1This standard is issued under the fixed designation F2953;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This specification covers basic characteristics requiredfor porous laminated phenolic materials intended for use asinstrument and thin-section ball-bearing retainers(cages)andthe methods of determining these characteristics.1.2 FormsSheets, rolled tubes, molded tubes, and rods arerecommended forms of laminated material covered by thisspecification.1.3 Intended UseMaterials produced to this specificationare intended for use as ball-bearing retainers(cages).Tempera-ture range is limited to 250F(117C)and below.1.4 UnitsThe values stated in inch-pound units are to beregarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses aremathematical conversions to SI units that are provided forinformation only and are not considered standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:2D618 Practice for Conditioning Plastics for TestingD695 Test
