Designation:B76007(Reapproved 2013)Standard Specification forTungsten Plate,Sheet, and Foil1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B760;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This specification covers wrought unalloyed tungstenplate, sheet, and foil.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest method portions of this specification:This standard doesnot purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is the responsibility of the user of thisstandard to establish appropriate safety and health practicesand determine the applicability of regulatory limitations priorto use.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:2E29 Practice for Using Significant Digits in Test Data toDetermine Conformance with Specifications3.Terminology3.1 Lot Definitions:3.1.1 ingot, nno definition required.3.1.2 A manufacturing lot shall consist of a material of thesame size, shape, condition, and finish produced from the ingotor powder blend by the same rolling reduction schedule and thesame heat treatment parameters.Unless otherwise agreedbetween manufacturer and purchaser,a lot shall be limited tothe product of an 8 h period for final continuous anneal,or toa single furnace load for final batch anneal.3.1.3 A chemical analysis lot shall consist of a singlepowder blend in the case of products manufactured frompressed and sintered powder metallurgy shapes,or a singleingot in the case of products manufactured from ingot.3.2 Product Forms:3.2.1 foil,na flat product less than 0.005 in.(0.13 mm)inthickness.3.2.2 plate,na flat product 0.188 in.(4.75 mm)or more inthickness.3.2.3 sheet,na flat product from.005 in.(0.13 mm)to0.187 in.(4.75 mm)in thickness.4.Ordering Information4.1 Orders for material under this specification shall includethe following information:4.1.1 Material identification and metallurigical condition(Section 7),4.1.2 Product form(Section 3),4.1.3 Chemical requirements(Table 1),4.1.4 Tolerances(Section 9,Table 2,and Fig.1),4.1.5 Workmanship and quality level requirements(Section10),4.1.6 Packaging(Section 14),4.1.7 Marking(Section 14),4.1.8 Certification and reports(Section 13),and4.1.9 Disposition of rejected material(Section 12).5.Materials and Manufacture5.1 The various tungsten flat products covered by thisspecification shall be formed with the conventional rolling, forging,or extrusion equipment, normally found in primaryferrous and nonferrous plants.5.2 The ingot metal is consolidated employing either thepowder metallurgy or vacuum-arc-casting process.6.Chemical Composition6.1 The tungsten ingots or billets for conversion to finishedproducts covered by this specification shall conform to therequirements of the chemical composition prescribed in Table1.6.2 Heat Analysis:6.2.1 Heat analysis is an analysis made by the manufacturerof the metal on a representative sample of powder from a singlepowder blend in the case of material made from pressed and1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee B10 onReactive and Refractory Metals and Alloys and is the direct Table 1,with the exception of oxygen which shall be reported forinformation only, and not be required to meet the requirementsof Table 1.6.3 Check Analysis:6.3.1 Check analysis is an analysis made by the purchaser orthe manufacturer of the metal after it has been processed intofinished mill forms, and is either for the purpose of verifyingthe composition of a heat or lot,or to determine variations inthe composition within a heat or lot.6.3.2 Check analysis tolerances do not broaden the specifiedheat analysis requirements but cover variations between labo-ratories in the measurement of chemical content.6.3.3 Check analysis limits shall be as specified in Table 1.6.3.4 The manu
