Designation:B 404/B 404M 02Standard Specification forAluminum and Aluminum-Alloy Seamless Condenser andHeat-Exchanger Tubes with Integral Fins1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B 404/B 404M;the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon(e)indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This specification covers externally helical, integrallyfinned aluminum and aluminum-alloy seamless tubes withfinned or unfinned ends, with continuous fins,or with unfinnedsections,in outside diameters(diameter over fins)up to 2 in.50 mm inclusive.See Table 1 and Table 2.1.2 Alloy and temper designations are in accordance withANSI H35.1 and H35.1M.The equivalent Unified NumberingSystem alloy designations are those of Table 1 preceded byA9,for example,A91060 for aluminum 1060 in accordance withPractice E 527.NOTE1Throughout this specification the term alloy in the generalsense includes aluminum as well as aluminum alloy.1.3 For acceptance criteria for inclusion of new aluminumand aluminum alloys in this specification, see Annex A2.1.4 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI unitsare to be regarded separately as standard.Within the text, theSI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in eachsystem are not exact equivalents;therefore, each system shallbe used independently of the other.Combining values from thetwo systems may result in nonconformance with the specifi-cation.2.Referenced Documents2.1 The following documents of the issue in effect on thedate of material procurement form a part of this specification tothe extent
