Designation:A252/A252M19Standard Specification forWelded and Seamless Steel Pipe Piles1This standard is issued under the fixed designation A252/A252M;the number immediately following the designation indicates the yearof original adoption or,in the case of revision,the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.A superscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This specification covers nominal(average)wall steelpipe piles of cylindrical shape and applies to pipe piles inwhich the steel cylinder acts as a permanent load-carryingmember,or as a shell to form cast-in-place concrete piles.Pipepiles are produced as both welded and seamless products.1.2 This specification is expressed in both inch-pound unitsand SI units;however,unless the purchase order or contractspecifies the applicable M specification designation(SI units),the inch-pound units shall apply.The values stated in eitherinch-pound or SI units are to be regarded separately asstandard.Within the text,the SI units are shown in brackets.The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents;therefore,each system shall be used independently of the other.Combining values from two systems may result in nonconfor-mance with the standard.1.3 The text of this specification contains notes and foot-notes that provide explanatory material.Such notes andfootnotes,excluding those in tables and figures,do not containany mandatory requirements.1.4 The following precautionary caveat pertains only to thetest method portion,Section 16 of this specification.Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety problems,if any,associated with its use.It is the responsibility of the userof this standard to establish
