Designation:B81900(Reapproved 2011)Standard Specification forSeamless Copper Tube for Medical Gas Systems1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B819;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for twowall thickness schedules of specially cleaned, straight lengthsof seamless copper tube, identified as Types K and L,suitablefor medical gas systems. The tube shall be installed inconformance with the requirements of the National FireProtection Association(NFPA)Standard 99,Gas and VacuumSystems(NFPA)Standard 99C,Standard for Hypobaric Facili-ties(NFPA)Standard 99B,and Canadian Standards Associa-tion(CSA)Standard Z 305.1 Z 7396.1,Nonflammable Medi-cal Gas Piping Systems.NOTE1Types K and L tube are defined in Specification B88.NOTE2Drawn temper tube is suitable for use with capillary(solderjoint)fittings for brazing.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3The following safety hazard caveat pertains only to thetest method portion of Section 12 of this specification.Thisstandard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is the responsibility of the userof this standard to establish appropriate safety and healthpractices and determine the applicability of regulatory limita-tions prior to use.22.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM
