Surfaces1This standard is issued under the fixed designation B532;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This specification limits the amounts and types of visualdefects that can be tolerated on decoratively electroplatedsurfaces of plastic products. The quantity of defects permittedshall be specified by the purchaser.2.Referenced terms not relating to electroplating, seeTerminology D883.4.Classification of Surfaces4.1 The appearance of surfaces will be separately evaluateddepending on the prominence of the surface under conditionsof ordinary use.4.1.1 Surface AThe surface that appears most prominentto the observer,or most likely to be noticed at first glance.4.1.2 Surface BThe surface(usually adjacent to SurfaceA)which is somewhat less prominent to the observer.4.1.3 Surface CThe surface not readily seen by theobserver except at an angle,or by special observation.4.1.4 Surface DThe surface not visible that the defectscited are not outstanding, too numerous,or located too closelytogether. The specific number of defects permitted, and theirspacing, shall be specified by the purchaser. The term“no”indicates that the defect cited is not normally acceptable.Theterm“yes”indicates that the defect cited is normally accept-able.8.Keywords8.1appearance;electroplated plastic1This specification
