Designation:C93206(Reapproved 2013)Standard Specification forSurface-Applied Bonding Compounds for ExteriorPlastering1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C932;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the U.S.Department of Defense.1.Scope1.1 This specification covers minimum requirements forexterior surface-applied bonding compounds for improving theadhesion of cementitious material to concrete or other masonrysurfaces or any structurally sound surfaces.1.2 This specification also covers test methods for determin-ing performance requirements and physical properties.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The SI metric values given in parentheses areapproximate and are provided for information purposes only.1.4 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest methods described in Sections 9,10,11,and 12 in thisspecification:This standard does not purport to address all ofthe safety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:2C11 Terminology Relating to Gypsum and Related CompoundA freeze-thawstable composition, suitable for brush, roller,or spray applica-tion.It shall be tinted to show by visual inspection where it hasbeen applied. The tint shall not bleed through the materialbeing bonded.4.2 ConsistencyThe bonding compound shall be free offoreign matter as determined by visual inspection and shall beof such uniform consistency that when applied in accordancewith the producers directions by brush, roller,or spray toconcrete, masonry,or other structurally sound surface, thebonding compound shall flow on evenly and dry uniformly.4.3 Film CharacteristicsThe film-forming property shallbe determined by visual inspection to determine the presenceof a continuous film not broken by fisheyes,cracking,pull-back,or any other discontinuity in the film surface. It shall notbe noticeably affected by alkaline surfaces or weak acids.4.4 Re-EmulsificationProduct conforming with this speci-fication shall not re-emulsify.5.Performance Requirements5.1 Bonding CapabilityThe bonding compound shall becapable of bonding cementitious materials when applied inaccordance with the producers directions and tested as speci-fied in Section 12.5.2 DegradationBonding
