Designation:C91614Standard Specification forAdhesives for Duct Thermal Insulation1This standard is issued under the fixed designation C916;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the U.S.Department of Defense.1.Scope1.1 Thisspecificationcoversminimummaterialrequirements, and safety precautions in application, for adhe-sives to bond thermal insulation duct liner on the interiorsurfaces of sheet metal air conditioning ducts;and for coatingexposed edges and joints of duct liner thermal insulation tominimize erosion of insulation fibers by air movement.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.For specificprecautionary statements, see Sections 7 and 9.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:2C168 Terminology Relating to Thermal InsulationD93 Test Methods for Flash Point by Pensky-MartensClosed classi-fied as follows:4.1.1 Type IAn adhesive in which the vehicle is nonflam-mable in the liquid(wet)state and which will pass theedge-burning test of 6.2.4.1.2 Type IIAn adhesive in which the vehicle is nonflam-mable in the liquid(wet)state and which will not pass theedge-burning test of 6.2.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee C16 onThermal Insulation and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee C16.33 onInsulation Finishes and Moisture.Current edition approved Sept.1,2014.Published September 2014.Originallyapproved in 1979.Last previous edition approved
