Designation:D 1694 95(Reapproved 2000)An American National StandardStandard Specification forThreads 60(Stub)for“Fiberglass(Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Thermosetting-Resin)Pipe1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 1694;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon(e)indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This specification covers the geometry and dimensionsof a thread system for fiberglass pipe.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are forinformation purposes only.NOTE1There is no similar or equivalent ISO standard.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:D 883 Terminology Relating to Plastics2D 1600 Terminology for Abbreviated Terms Relating toPlastics2E 177 Practice for Use of the abbreviations are in accordancewith Terminology D 1600,unless otherwise indicated.3.2 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.2.1 fiberglass pipe,na tubular product containing glassfiber reinforcements embedded in or surrounded by curedthermosetting resin;the composite structure may containaggregate, granular,or platelet fillers, thixotropic agents,pig-ments,or dyes;thermoplastic or thermosetting liners or coat-ings may be included.4.Thread Geometry and Dimensions4.1 GeometryThe geometry of the thread form shall be inaccordance with Fig.1 and shall be defined as modified by theAmerican National Standard 60 stub thread. The male threadmay be preceded by a cylindrical pilot of length equal to twothread pitches and the outside diameter equal to or less than thetheoretical diameter of the thread if it were extended to the endof the pilot.4.2 DimensionsAll sizes of pipe from 112to 20 in.indiameter inclusive shall have 8 threads per inch, tapered 1 in 32on the diameter, and shall conform to the dimensions specifiedin Table 1.The geometry of the gage to measure the 60 stubshall be in accordance with Fig.2.The dimensions andtolerances for all size gages shall conform to the dimensionslisted in Table 2 and Table 3,respectively.5.Precision of Measurement5.1 The measurement experience of an individual manufac-turer of threads in accordance with this specification has shownthe following indexes of precision:5.1.1 Micrometer CaliperThe multi-micrometer-operator-specimen-day precision is 60.001 in.(0.025 mm)(2S)asdefined in Practice E 177.5.1.2
