Designation:D226003(Reapproved 2018)Standard Tables ofConversion Factors and Equivalent Yarn Numbers Measuredin Various Numbering Systems1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D2260;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 These tables include(1)a series of conversion factorsrequired to convert the number of a yarn measured in a specificsystem to the equivalent number measured in various othersystems(see Table 1),and(2)specific equivalent numbers foryarns measured in various systems(see Table 2).1.2 The content is basically consistent with recommenda-tions of the International Organization for Standardization(ISO)Standard 2947.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety, health, and environmental practices and deter-mine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with internationally recognized principles on standard-ization established in the Decision on Principles for theDevelopment of International Standards,Guides and Recom-mendations issued by the World Trade Organization TechnicalBarriers to Trade(TBT)Committee.2.Referenced various other systems from Table 2.5.2 With a few exceptions, fractional traditional indirectcounts have been omitted from Table 2;the rounded tex systemvalues for most fractional traditional indirect counts can beobtained by interpolation.1These tables are under the jurisdiction of ASTM Committee D13 on Textilesand are the direct responsibility of Subcommittee D13.58 on Yarns and Fibers.Current edition approved July 1,2018.Published July 2018.Originally approvedin 1964.Last previous edition approved in 2013 as D2260 03(2013).DOI:10.1520/D2260-03R18.2For referenced ASTM standards, visit the
