Designation:D337217Standard Test Method forMolybdenum in Water1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D3372;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the U.S.Department of Defense.1.Scope*1.1 This test method covers the determination of dissolvedandtotalrecoverablemolybdenuminmostwaters, wastewaters, and brines by atomic absorption spectroscopy.21.2 This test method is applicable in the range from 1 to 25g/L of molybdenum. The range may be extended by dilutionof the sample.1.3 This test method has been used successfully with naturaland reagent waters. It is the users responsibility to ensure thevalidity of this test method for waters of untested matrices.1.4 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversion to inch-pound units that are provided for informa-tion only and are not considered standard.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.For specificprecautionary statements, see 8.16 and 11.12.1.6 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with internationally recognized principles on standard-ization established in the Decision on Principles for theDevelopment of International Standards,Guides and Recom-mendations issued by the World Trade Organization TechnicalBarriers to Trade(TBT)Committee.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:3D1129 Terminology Relating to WaterD1193
