Designation:D395520Standard Specification forElectrical Insulating Varnishes1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D3955;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision,the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope*1.1 This specification covers the tests and values for elec-trical insulating varnishes,as supplied,which are suitable forthe impregnation and treatment of electrical coils and windingsapplied by dip process.1.2 Varnishes,flexible or rigid,included in this specificationare:Grade DAAir-dryGrade DOOrganic solvent containing,baking,Grade DMReactive diluent containing,Grade DSSilicone,Grade DWWater containing,andGrade DTThixotropic.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard.The values given in parentheses are mathematicalconversions to SI units that are provided for information onlyand are not considered standard.NOTE1This specification resembles IEC 60455 in title only.Thecontent is significantly
