the vulcanizationoperation that produces proper mechan.ical strength,chemical resistance,and good rubber-to-meta1adhesion.4564.PART A-REQUIREMENTSFOR FIELD INSTAl,.iLAnONOF RUBBER SHEET LININGS4.1 General-Tanksor other equipment too large to ship,or those that have to be erected prior to lining in criticalplant areas,can be lined at the purchasersplant by theapplicator in a manner that will be satisfactory in every wayfor the intended service.4.2 Services and FaiIities-The following services andfacilities are required to install a rubber sheet lining in thefield.Theiravailabilityandcost should be agreeduponbetween the applicator and the purchaser.4.2.1 Meral Fabrication-Metalfabricationand weldingshall be in accordance with specified codes.Welds shall bavea roundand smoothsurface suitable for applyingrubberlining.,4.2.2 Protection of Tank-2Ifthe equipmentto be lined islocated out of doors it win be necessary,in certain latitudesand seasons,to protect the equipmentfrom the weather andto providethe heat necessarx to maintaina temperatureaboveIS.C(S9.F).In any evtJ.t,theequipmentmust beproperly protected against rairi:aiid in warm weatherfromdirect exposure to the sun.,A satisfactory installationcannotbe made if conditions are!;tichas to induce condensationonsurfaces prior to cementiIii(andlining.Nor can lining beproperly cured unless equipmentis protected against exces-sive heat loss during cure.4.2.3 Blasting-Justprior to the applicationof the tmIcoat of adhesive primer,all metal surfaces to be lined shall be,abrasive-blastedto a gray-white(uniformmetallic)color.surface finish in accordancewith NACE StandardNo.JiTM-O1-70 or Steel Structures Painting Council SSPC No.S;IThe minimumsurface prof1.leshallbeO.OSI mm(0.002 in.I4.2.4 ScaffoldingandLadders-Onlargetanks,scaffolding and ladders must be provided and removed after the Ilining operation and the initial spark tests are completed.4.2.SWorkroomand CuttingTable Storage of Maten-Ials-The workroom and materials storage should be located Ias close to the equipment being lined as possible.Both should be reasonably clean,and the temperatureshould be Imaintained above
