Designation:D313919An American National StandardStandard Specification forJoints for Plastic Pressure Pipes Using Flexible ElastomericSeals1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D3139;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the U.S.Department of Defense.1.Scope*1.1 This specification covers the types of joints required forplastic pipe pressure systems with a wall thickness equal to orgreater than that of SDR 64 and intended for use in supply anddistribution lines for water, using flexible elastomeric seals. This specification covers the test requirements, test method, and materials. The test methods described are not intended tobe routine quality control tests but are to evaluate the perfor-mance characteristics of the joint.1.2 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes, and appendixes which provide explanatory material.Thesenotes and footnotes(excluding those in tables and figures)shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.3 The following safety hazards caveat pertains to the testmethod portion,Section 6,of this
