Designation:D516104aStandardGuide forSpecifying Inspection Requirements for Coating and LiningWork(Metal Substrates)1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D5161;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This guide is intended to aid the coating specificationwriter in selecting and specifying the appropriate inspectioncriteria. It indicates the inspection requirements that may beemployed for each of four service environments includingmild, moderate, severe, and immersion(see Table 1).1.2 In order to aid the user in determining when to specifyinspection requirements,a relationship between the conse-quence of failure and the suggested level of inspection isdemonstrated(see Fig.1).1.3 It is not the intent of this guide to address the selectionof protective coating systems,to specify surface preparationand application requirements,or to be a referenced documentin a specification.2.Referenced
