determining the chemical or physical characteristics of finished p-xylene.1.2 The methods compiled in this guide are generally applicable for the analysis of p-xylene of 98%or greater purity.1.3 This test procedures to help standardize the analysis of p-xylene.It is intended as an aid for setting specifications between producers and users of p-xylene and for use by laboratories supporting manufac-turing processes using p-xylene.3.2 The recommended test methods were selected,in part,on the basis of precision,bias,and ease of analysis.When applicable,an alternative method is suggested.These alterna-tive methods should be used in the event that either equipment or reagents are not available to conduct the recommended test method.4.Hazards 4.1 Consult current OSHA regulations and suppliers Material Safety Data Sheets on handling materials listed in this guide.5.Test Methods 5.1 The material shall be sampled,and the properties enumerated in this guide can be determined in accordance with Table 1,6.Precision and Bias 6.1 Most ASTM standard methods have precision limits.Reference to the individual standards for precision state-ments is recommended.This
