Designation:D516308Standard Guide forEstablishing a Program for Condition Assessment ofCoating Service Level I Coating Systems in Nuclear PowerPlants1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D5163;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This standard covers procedures for establishing amonitoring program for condition assessment of CoatingService Level I coating systems in operating nuclear powerplants.Monitoring is an ongoing process of evaluating thecondition and performance of the in-service coating systems.1.2 It is the intent of this standard to provide a recom-mended basis for establishing a coatings condition assessmentprogram, not to mandate a singular basis for all programs.Variations or simplifications of the program described in thisstandard may be appropriate for each operating nuclear powerplant depending on their licensing commitments.Similarguidelines are applicable for Coating Service Level III andother areas outside containment.1.3 This standard does not address the requirements ofASME Section XI,In-Service Inspection Subsections IWE andIWL.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:2D610 Practice for Evaluating Degree of Rusting on PaintedSteel SurfacesD714 Test Method for Evaluating
