Designation:D6769/D6769M02(Reapproved 2010)1Standard Guide forApplication of Fully Adhered,Cold-Applied,PrefabricatedReinforced Modified Bituminous Membrane WaterproofingSystems1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D6769/D6769M;the number immediately following the designation indicates theyear of original adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of lastreapproval.A superscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1NOTEUnits information was editorially revised in July 2010.1.Scope1.1 This guide lists application and installation requirementsfor fully adhered,cold-applied,prefabricated modified bitumi-nous membrane waterproofing systems for below-grade orbelow-wearing-surface(such as plaza decks)vertical or hori-zontal applications.1.2 For the purposes of this application guide, the substrateis assumed to be structurally sound, sloped to drain(if newconstruction),and meeting the local building code require-ments.Similarly,the system components are assumed tocomply with all federal, state, and local requirements in effectat the time of installation.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents;therefore, eachsystem shall be used independently of the other.Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in non-conformancewith the standard.1.4 This guide may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This standard does not purport to address allof the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory requirements prior to use.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:2D1079 Terminology Relating to Roofing and WaterproofingD5295 Guide in which if the surface is touched, there will be a string of material attached to the finger.3.2 For definitions of other terms relating to waterproofing, see Terminology D1079.4.Significance and Use4.1 This guide outlines general procedures for the storageand application of various prefabricated sheets made usingmodified bituminous materials and intended for use as below-grade and below-wearing-surface waterproofing.4.2 The substrate used for applications described in thisguide shall be concrete or masonry.4.3 This application consists of a prefabricated reinforcedmodified bituminous sheet applied to a suitable substrate usinga bituminous-based,cold-applied adhesive or mastic.Applica-tion rates given are typical for such installations.4.4 This guide is intended to supplement instructions fromdesigners and manufacturers.5.Delivery of Materials5.1 Deliver materials in suppliers original containers andpackaging.1This guide is under the jurisdiction of ASTM manufac-turer.6.2 Store the modified bituminous sheet in the manufactur-ers original packaging in the manner specified by the manu-facturer.Storage on wood pallets and stacking usually no morethan five rolls high is recommended.Protect against exposureto direct sunlight, precipitation, dust, and other such contami-nants.If inside storage is not available, tarp only with canvastarpaulins;do not use polyethylene or other nonbreathing filmsto cover the packages.7.Safety Precautions7.1 Store flammable materials in a manner that will not posea fire hazard.Solvent-bearing adhesives may be flammable.Donot use flammable materials near an open flame or equipmentthat may produce sparks.8.Environmental Conditions at Time of Ap
