superscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This test method covers the determination of the stiff-ness of geosynthetics used as turf reinforcement mats(TRMs).1.2 The method is applicable to TRMs of any fiber contentand any number of components.1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard.The values stated ineach system may not be exact equivalents;therefore,eachsystem shall be used independently of the other.Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in nonconformancewith the standard.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any,associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety,health,and environmental practices and deter-mine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.5 This international standard was developed in accor-dance with inter-action between geosynthetic weight and geosynthetic stiffnessas shown by the way in which a geosynthetic bends under itsown weight.It reflects the stiffness of a geosynthetic when bentin one plane under the force of gravity,and is one componentof drape.3.1.1.1 DiscussionBending length is called“drape stiff-ness”in Federal Specification CCC-T-191b.3.1.2 bending length(specific),nthe cube root of the ratioof the flexural rigidity to the mass per unit area.3.1.3 flexural rigidity(general),nresistance to bending.3.1.3.1 DiscussionResistance to bending or flexural rigid-ity is called“flex stiffness”in Federal Specification CCC-T-191b.3.1.4 flexural rigidity(specific),nthe couple on either endof a sample of unit width bent into unit curvature in the absenceof any tension.3.1.4.1 DiscussionThe methods measure the bendinglength.Flexural rigidity is calculated directly by multiplyingthe cube of the bending length by the weight per unit area(see3.1.2).3.1.5 stiffness,nresistance
