Designation:E183411Standard Test Method forAnalysis of Nickel Alloys by Graphite Furnace AtomicAbsorption Spectrometry1This standard is issued under the fixed designation E1834;the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or,in the case of revision, the year of last revision.A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval.Asuperscript epsilon()indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1.Scope1.1 This test method describes the graphite furnace atomicabsorption spectrometric analysis of nickel, such as specifiedby ASTM Committee B02,and having chemical compositionswithin the following limits:ElementApplication Range(Wt.%)Aluminum0.01-6.00Boron0.01-0.10Carbon0.01-0.15Chromium0.01-33.00Copper0.01-35.00Cobalt0.01-20.00Iron0.05-50.00Magnesium0.01-0.020Molybdenum0.01-30.0Niobium0.01-6.0Nickel25.00-100.0Phosphorous0.001-0.025Silicon0.01-1.50Sulfur0.0001-0.01Titanium0.0001-6.0Tungsten0.01-5.0Vanadium0.0005-1.01.2 The following elements may be determined using thistest method:ElementQuantification Range(g/g)Bismuth0.2-3Lead0.6-12Selenium0.7-10Tellurium0.4-61.3 This test method has only been interlaboratory-tested forthe elements and ranges specified. It may be possible to extendthis test method to other elements or different concentrationranges provided that a test method validation study thatincludes an instrument performance evaluation as described inPractice E1770 is performed.Additionally, the validation studyshall evaluate the acceptability of sample preparation method-ology using reference materials or spike recoveries,or both. The user is cautioned to carefully evaluate the validation dataas to the intended purpose of the analytical results.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns,if any, associated with its use.It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bility of regulatory limitations prior to use.For specifichazards statements see Note 2 and Section 9.2.Referenced Documents2.1 ASTM Standards:2D1193 Specification for Reagent WaterE50
