Supplement 1-2002toASME A112.19.3-2000Stainless Steel Plumbing Fixtures(Designed for Residential Use)(This Supplement was approved as an American National Standard on July 3,2002.)Table 2 has been revised. The text in the first column,sec-ond row has been corrected, and values have been revisedand added to the second and third columns, second row.The second sentence in Note(1)has been revised. The re-vised table follows:TABLE 2 STAINLESS STEEL SHEET THICKNESSInside Dimension or Area of One CompartmentMin.Metal Thickness,Note(1)Bowl Depth,in.(mm)in.(mmlNote(2】Span under 29 in.(737 mm),area under parallel to L and Was shown inTables A1 through A14.When any one of the dimensions indicated or the area equals or exceeds the stated value,0.046in.(1.17 mm)shall be the required minimum thickness of the sheet metal. Thus,in order for the fixture to qualify for alesser thickness, all of the indicated compartment dimensions shall be under the values stated.(2)Minimum metal thickness shall conform to the decimal thickness that applies to the sheet metal thickness before drawingor forming. The first sentence in para.2.4 has been corrected asfollows:Fixtures shall conform to the applicable dimensionsand tolerances given herein. Not for ResaleParagraph 2.5 has been added as follows:2.5 Structural Integrity Test2.5.1 Method. The unit, including a waste fitting, shall be installed,in accordance with the manufacturersinstructions.A preload of 292 lb(1.3 kN)shall beapplied to the center of the bottom of the fixture bymeans of a rigid disk 3.0 in.(75 mm)in diametercovered by a 0.500 in.(13 mm)thickness of spongerubber or other suitable soft material that is interposedbetween the disc and the surface being loaded. If thedrain is located at the center of the bottom of thefixture, the preload shall be applied over the center ofthe waste fitting. The preload shall be applied for 2to 3 min to allow settlement of the test frame and anyinitial slip in fasteners to occur, and then removed.Ten to fifteen minutes after removal of the preload, the 292 Ib(1.3 kN)load shall be applied for I to 2min.The test load shall be applied to the center ofthe bottom of the fixture except where the waste fittingis in this location,in which case the load shall beapplied halfway between the center of the drain andthe wall or threshold. The test load shall not be appliedover a rib or other support on the underside of thefixture.2.5.2 Performance Requirement.Upon inspec-tion after testing there shall be no cracks or otherforms of failure(i.e.,tearing of the stainless steel, separation of any welds, joints,or sound coat materials).Copyright 2002THE AMERICAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERSThree Park Avenue,New York,NY 10016-5990All Rights ReservedJ5000ASEPTEMBER 2002Not for
