从《喜福会》中母女关系的冲突看中美文化差异 Abstract By studying The Joy Luck Club, this thesis explores the intergenerational communication between parents and children due to cultural differences. By discussing the differences between China and the United States in terms of language comprehension, family concept, marriage concept and interpersonal relationship, this thesis shows the conflict between Chinese and American culture. She attended medical school. Later she gave up medicine to study English and linguistics at SAN jose State University. In 1973 and in 1974 she was awarded a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. She rose to fame in 1989 with her debut novel, The Joy Luck Club. The Joy Luck Club was on the New York times best-seller list for nine months in 1989, selling more than 275,000 hardback copies, making her a rising star among Chinese-American women writers. In 1989, The Joy Luck Club won the national book award. In 1990, the commonwealth club presented the book award to the Joy Luck Club, and the California book review society presented the best novel award to the Joy Luck Club. It also won the 1991 American novel of the year award. The Joy Luck Club has translated into 25 languages and read by people around the world. Amy Tan is a native of the United States. The blood of the Chinese is in the blood vessels. Her long life in the United States gave her a good understanding of American culture.
